Photography Question

My first SLR CAMERA

i am just about to buy my first slr camera. I have never gotten one before and now only a little about them. I would like some suggestions for good 28-90mm cheap cameras that I could start out with. I would also like to know what I should be looking for in slr cameras.

The Nikon N55,N65 and N75 are good entry-level cameras. Put an AF-G 28-100mm lens and presto! Or if you prefer Canon Rebel II or the Rebel Ti for novices who enjoy simple features. Minolta, Pentax have their entry-level units as well. What you got to look for in 35mm cameras are features that can expand your creativity( anything from automatic focus tracking to all kinds of custom functions ). Read plenty of photography books, attend photo workshops or seminars and check photography websites ---all these will enhance your acumen in photography.

Pentsax IST, I believe is the entry level SLR. Pentax has an excellent reputation and are very good cameras. I Have an ME Super, and an MV love both. Could have sworn I saw the ist for 209 bucks down at Sears a couple of weeks ago too. Check it out. What you should be looking for is one that will grow with your skills. It should be able to go on auto settings but should also be able to allow you to take control of the apature and shutter youself. Now there is one Minolta model that won't allow you to do that, watch out for that one. Its great to find people still interseted in shooting with film.

  My two cents worth.

The Canon EOS Rebel cameras offer many features from simple to advanced but are very easy/convenient to use.

The Pentax *ist is not an entry level camera but one of their higher end models.

Any brand of autofocus SLR camera would be fine; avoid the very cheapest model in any brand. Set a budget and check out Canon, Minolta, Nikon, Pentax on a dealer's web site such as bandhphoto.com

Oops, must have been a ZX-L. Shutter 30-1/4000, has a B setting. six subject exposure modes, to name some of the features. Im getting this out of Pop photo December 2003. Its a buyers guide they ran. All the SLR's are listed and in their catzagories. Entry, midlevel, pro. If you can find that magizine you it will help quite a bit.

  Sorry, its www.bhphotovideo.com

Or try Adorama www.adorama.com

or another top rated retailer's Web store. A quick way to compare prices and features/Specifications.
