"Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Studio Techniques" by Ben Willmore. Is the best book from the nine books I have. Ben Willmore is a very good teacher. He also has video tapes on special topics.

The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers by Kelby is wonderful and funny. One tip : How to turn 3 megapixel images to poster size is AA-mazing and alone is worth the price of the book.
