Hi Angela – Boy what a question! I’m surprised that you have not be given more answers than you can get through! I recently switched from Minolta to Canon and have been busy buying new equipment (busy and Broke!) so I have some suggestions that worked for me: Go to Canon’s own website http://www.usa.canon.com and look up the data on the lenses that might fit your purpose. Then go to B&H http://www.bhphotovideo.com and find the cost for the lens. I have been using B&H for a few years and have found them terrific to work with – particularly as a newbie to photography. They are very quick to respond to questions and treat each question respectfully – even when I thought the question was stupid. Their prices are often about the best around. Now to specifics: my first Canon lens was the Canon 28-135mm. I love this lens! It is very sharp and I have used it for everything from “almost” macro to “almost” telephoto. It has image stabilization so I have handheld it in some fairly slow situations and been shocked at how sharp the resulting images have been. (down to SS of around 20). Most of my photography is outdoors in natural light, but I have used this lens with a flash indoors and been very pleased. In my limited experience, this lens has proven to be very useful and may well fit your current needs.

Wow! Thanks for all the information, I really appreciate it. I did make it to Canon's website and printed up all the info on the zoom and landscape lenses. I'll definitely go check out B&H right away. Thanks for taking the time to help me out!
