Flashes (I Am A total rookie) Hey, I have a Minolta Maxxum 50. And I want a new flash. Can someone tell me what kind of flashes are available for my camera? ( or are all flash mountings the same?)

Any, so long as it is made for the unique Minotla Maxxum hotshoe. Besides Konina-Minolta's own 5600 HS (D), 3600 HS (D), and 2500 (D), there are suitable Maxxum-compatible flashes made by Sigma, Sunpak, Metz, Achiever,... Preferred is higher power (as measured by guidenumber), tilt/swivel head for bouncing flash, and compatibility with Minolta's ADI TTL flash exposure system.

are all maxxum flashes the same? Because I was looking at a flash amd it said for "Maxxum 4,5,...." but it didn't mention a 50. Will this still work?

Yes, a flash dedicated to the Maxxum 4 and 5 will work with the Maxxum 50. While the instruction manual for the Maxxum 50 lists only the -HS(D) series flashes, I'm pretty sure it will work with Maxxum series -i, -si, -HS, and -HS(D) flashes. Older model Minolta flashes in the -AF series (4000AF, 2800AF, 1800AF, 1200AF) have the standard hotshoe foot and require a hotshoe adapter (FS-1100) to mount to the Maxxum 50. These should be avoided as they will have limited function with the Maxxum 50, such as the AF assist light will not work.
