Difference between MC4 and MC7

Could any one help me? I would like to buy a teleconverter 2x (AF). I saw two types MC4 and MC7 (Kenko make) what's the difference between these two? Will it have any difference when I take pictures? Which is better?

I shall be thankful if anyone could help..

The difference between these is the number of lens elements. The MC4 is a 4 element converter, and the MC7 has 7 elements. Any teleconverter added to a lens degrades image quality, but the 7 element design keeps that to a minimum. Keep in mind that a 2x converter reduces your aperture value by 2 stops, so unless your using an f/2.8 or faster lens, you'll lose AF capability. I believe a 1.5x converter is far more useful and gives you a nice boost while losing only one stop of light. I'd start with 1.5x and if you find you need more reach, save you pennies for a longer lens.

Shobin: However, some zoom lenses are really not ideal for use with any teleconverter.

Which lenses do you have?

And which camera?

  Peter,

I am having Minolta Maxxum 3xi and Sigma 70-300 (4-5.6). And I am thinking of buying MC4 as MC7 is costly. And also I am a beginner.

If you have any idea please help.

Thanks a lot

Shobin
