PSD format and the web Hi All- I have PSE 18. Layered photos are supposed to be saved as PSD files so layers are preserved in image. Cannot upload these files onto the web, which require JPG format. Is there a swecret here? Do I need full Photoshop (or some other program, e.g., Lightroom) to be able to get on web?

Hi Rob, I'm really no expert so I'm just throwing this out as a suggestion. I haven't used Elements in a while, but I was thinking maybe this will work because it's not that different from full Photoshop in many ways. First, make a copy of your image and keep the original PSD file. Then open the copy, choose File>Save As. Select JPEG as the file format you want. You can enter a file name in the Save As field, I think. Then click Save. Then choose the image quality and click OK. If this doesn't work I apologize for wasting your time lol! Good luck!

Also, on your copy, you may have to flatten the image before you can convert it to JPEG, if you haven't already. Hope this helps.

Christine answered your question by telling you how to convert a PSD file to a jpeg: is that what you wanted to know? Or was your question "How to upload a PSD file and maintain layers"? If that is your question, I doubt that is an option for web usage. Layers would have to be flattened in order to view without opening the image in a separate compatible program.
