Sunpak 522 & Canon G2 can I use the Sunpak 522 flash with the Canon G2? I measure about 20 volts open circuit on the sync cable. Will that voltage damage the camera? If so is there a work around?

Ron, A wise question to ask before using an older flash unit on the G2! However, only Canon can give you a definitive, correct answer about the maximum trigger voltage the G2 can withstand. Unfortunately it's not in the camera specs. You should ask Canon directly the maximum flash trigger voltage the G2 is rated for. Canon's USA web site: http://www.usa.canon.com/ See the contact links on Canon's digital camera support page: In the event that your Sunpak trigger voltage is too high, Paramount makes flash cords that include an isolation circuit to prevent camera damage. There are two cords for every type they make, including the custom ones. One has the isolation circuit and the other does not. Paramount's web site (you can buy direct from them if you wish): -- John

Thanks John. Canon advised that their limit is 6 volts. Looks like the Paramont cords will do the job.
