Selecting a category I generally use Alternate Image Uploader to upload my photos to the contest, but sometimes I have problems when the "Select a category" drop down bar doesn't appear. I can still go ahead and upload the pic, and then try entering it into the contest once the upload shows, but a statement appears saying I have already uploaded to the contest today, come back tomorrow. When I check the recent entries, my pic is not there, even though it appears in my gallery. (Of course, I haven't already uploaded a pic in today's comp). Sorry if somebody else has already complained about this, I have looked right through the forum and haven't found this complaint. Many thanks to anybody who can help. Debbie.

....I was just wondering, maybe an answer to my question - could it be that the site is very busy at that time with uploads? I generally try and enter just after midnight your time...

I wonder if "generally" is the key here..If you don't wait until after midnight west coast USA time, they may see you as still in "yesterday" and that you already did upload that day. Just a guess.

Thanks Carolyn - I go by the time on the contest page, I wait till after 12pm to upload. I usually have to delete the image, and keep trying to re-enter it when I see the drop down bar on the image uploader. Thanks for your reply.

How about trying to upload using My Member Center> My Photos>Image Uploader under where it says "Enter Our Monthly Contest" on the left bottom...I use Google Chrome and a PC,it seems to work for me fine...

Highlighted Comment: This happened to me on Aug. 2 around 1:30 a.m. It said that I had already submitted a contest photo. All was well in the morning. Possibly a time zone problem. I am on Eastern Daylight so that would mean I was too early for a new date on the west coast.

Thank you Jill and Dalne. I think I will just try uploading a little later than what the time states on the contest page.

Highlighted Comment: For some reason it is usually around 12:15 AM before I can upload a new contest entry...If I try before that, there is no category drop down menu.

Something interesting I just noticed. I uploaded a photo at 11:20 PM California time and when I look it says I uploaded it at 11:00 PM, a 20 minute difference...Now I see why I cannot upload to the contest until 11:20 PM :-)

Once again the comment editor doesn't work...I meant to say that I see why now I have to wait until 12:20 to upload...:-)

As far as I know I have not had any problems entering the contest. I just have problems getting an EP :-) Actually I did have what looked like a double entry on the 11th. It was about 2:00 am and it said that I had already entered but let me enter anyway. I am in the Central Time Zone so 2:00 would be the next day (the 12th) and not the 11th. It looks like I have two entries on the 11th but I don't. What I always do is upload the photo first then enter later. Maybe that's why I have not had trouble. I do use the alternate uploader.

Like Harriet I always upload the image first and enter the contest later. I want to see what my pictures looks like on the internet before entering it in the contest. Sometimes, online, I spot some imperfection or loss of sharpness/contrast after I upload. I want to be able to delete an image to make adjustments before I commit to entering it.

Irene, you can upload a photo to the contest and if you don't like it, you can delete it. I often do that. Then, just enter a different one. Or make adjustments and reenter again. BP doesn't penalize you for entering a photo, then deleting. The clock is reset and you can enter a brand new one....just as long as you do it in the same day.

Yes Ken, I realize that I can delete and renter a photo if necessary. But I'd rather examine the photo upon upload and delete it as fast as possible if I see something not quite correct. I don't see any point in being in such a hurry to enter the contest that I'd have to upload a picture directly into the contest at the same time I upload.
