Two years ago Bill and I covered (photographically) the aftermath of a huge warehouse fire that ended the lives of two brave fire fighters. Ironically, Jesse, a one-time Fire Fighter, had just moved his gallery of "Unsung Heroes" (pictured here) one block away from the warehouse. He was featured in a photo I posted during a candle light vigil near the charred ruins (see below). Yesterday I photographed the unveiling of a new mural on the building that houses "Unsung Heroes." The mural honors the two fallen Fire Fighters. Jesse was also one of the artists. It was a very moving ceremony with pipes, drums, bugle (taps) and much more to moisten the eyes of everyone who attended.

Commissioner Sawyer has held his position for two weeks and has already had to deal with two fires with fatalities.

On a makeshift stage (the back of a flatbed truck), the head of the Neighborhood Association and Jesse Gardner lead a Candle Light Vigil at the site of the burnt rubble of the warehouse where two fire fighters were lost in April 2012.
