Kodak Photo of the Day--June 13, 2011I just loved how this photo turned out of my 4 year grandson, Charlie. While at the VA State Fair this past weekend, we were looking at fairly large tractor equipment when I saw this huge wheel that was bigger than Charlie and got a great idea of having Charlie sit inside the rim of the wheel. The first shot I tried to get was on the west side wheel of the tractor and the sun was strongly shooting right into the rim and into my grandson's eyes. I couldn't even coax him into sitting inside the rim--"Too hot, Grandma!" And he put his hands around his eyes to block out the sun and smiled (see the before photo). Then, I suggested we try the east side of the tractor and sure enough, no sun, and, without me asking or even having to coax him, Charlie just got inside that rim, posed as you see here and gave me the best smile. It was a wonderful moment, with great lighting, even shadowing, and a great expression.

Here is the before shot, taken on the side with just way too much sun. Charlie didn't like having the sun in the eyes, too much shadow within the rim and it washed out some of Charlie's features.

Oh my, Sue, this is a keeper for sure -- and I'll bet it's a winner, too. What a cutie he is and I love the pose, his tickled expression and the great bold color combination.
