The Constitutional Convention took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1787. The convention's purpose was to revise the Articles of Confederation, but it ultimately resulted in the creation of the United States Constitution.
On the last day of the Constitutional Convention in 1787 Benjamin Franklin made this remark: 'A republic, if you can keep it'
"A government structured as a republic, where power rests with the people, is only sustainable if the citizens actively participate and protect their democratic rights."
