About Lewis T. Beasimer
As a young man, I bought a Minolta Maxxum 7000, my first SLR camera, in the early 80's using money I earned from a paper route. I took this camera everywhere with me and used it for many years to come. At the time, I focused more on developing an eye than mastering the camera. After I graduated college, I set the camera on a closet shelf and moved on to forging a new life for myself.
The digital camera revolution had begun, and in 1999 photography grabbed my interest again. I purchased a Sony Mavica, enjoying the possibilities of shooting digital while being disappointed with printed image quality. I dusted off my old SLR and was annoyed by limitations of both aging equipment and my personal abilities. When the Canon 10D DSLR was announced, I knew it was time to leave the past options behind. Along with a new camera set up, I realized the limitations of my skills and focused on learning to use the camera to achieve the creative results I wanted. Since that time I have actively been shooting Canon DSLR cameras while improving my personal abilities.
Photographing sporting events, travel, and architecture inspires me the most. When I can, I enjoy creating low light images. I attempt to try new subjects or methods to keep a fresh perspective. I have always shied away from photographing people, but have become interested in pushing my abilities in that aspect. I also work to improve my Photoshop skills on a regular basis. For me, digital photography has created new sources of creativity allowing me to challenge and hone my skills. In addition to BetterPhoto.com, Many of my images can be found at www.lbphoto.net
