Nice work with light and shadow #1583291David L. Godwin August 17, 2014
Thank Brad for the comment. That was the hardest part of this photo was balancing the dark shadows of the waterfall with the bright sun off the mossy rocks. I did not want to have to use HDR and so I worked the dynamic range as best as possible and did some balancing of tones and brightness in post processing.Brad Winget August 17, 2014
Why the aversion to HDR? I use it a lot. I do appreciate how not using it on this shot makes it so much harder. #11110273David L. Godwin August 17, 2014
I like using HDR for a lot of situations but sometimes in nature landscape shots it can create unrealistic looking results. #11110276Brad Winget August 17, 2014
True, I see that a lot too. However if I am on tripod I will always bracket to give myself the option. Many times I have taken the sky from HDR and used the single shot to combine. #11110280Judith Redmount September 24, 2014

This is lovely. But I wonder what it would look like without the blur. I think the color reflected in the water falling would also be interesting.Richard M. Waas October 30, 2014
