First Snow at Bryce Canyon [Contest Finalists December 2012]
Uploaded: December 13, 2012 06:35:27
December 2012 BetterPhoto.com Finalist. 2nd Prize at the 2013 Photography Competition at the Union League of Chicago. It rained hard the night before and turned to snow on October 6, 2011. This was the result after sun rise; this wonderful fluffy snow over the brilliant color of the Bryce Canyon Landscape. During the day, snow squalls were interspersed with moments of brilliant sun. This scene was an early morning capture taken with my Nikon Coolpix P7000 while waiting to set up my tripod with my SLR in a good position given the number of folks enjoying the early morning vista and light.

John, Craig, Ann, and Linda...thank you for the nice comments. It was a magical morning when the heavy rain storm of the night before turned to snow and then it started to clear. #10470361John D. Roach January 24, 2013
Judges,Thank you....it was a wonderous morning, that I will never forget. This one of many where I captured the light in a special way due to the snow, sun and clouds over the luminous Bryce Canyon.
