Step Patterns [Elements of Design]

These steps are at the Fresno Veterans Hospital. During a recent outdoor ceremony, I noticed the severe and harsh appearing angles of the steps, handrail and shadows which made me think of the harsh reality of ugliness many of our service men and women deal with to protect us here in the Land of the Free.

Great Image, Songbird!Songbird Cline November 16, 2011
Thank you, I appreciate you looking and the nice comment! I'm so happy I took this photo when I did as the steps are now gone. They were removed not long ago due to age and cracking. I thought the steps had a lot of character as they served our American Veterans for 70 years. They have now been replaced with new crack free steps, an analogy to me of the old veterans passing away who are replaced with a younger generation of America's military. #9809084Phyllis H. What a dramatic depiction of an everyday scene. I am impressed by your mission and focus on the unexpected drawn from the daily scenes we all pass by. And yes, "I never saw it like that before!" Thank you for inspiring photos. #10524907Songbird Cline January 20, 2013
