It's a beautiful image Mary-Ella, but so sad to think of what you're all going through. Hope you will keep safe! #70144Paul Coco October 28, 2003
Sad for the conditions that created this. That doesn't change the fact that this is a gorgeous image. Stay safe. #248165Lori Ditlefsen October 28, 2003
Very pretty shot Mary-Ella. #248191Susie Peek-Swint October 28, 2003
A beautiful shot Mary-Ella, but sad it had to be created from the destruction. I echo the others in saying take care! #248296Charlene Bayerle October 28, 2003
Beautiful image Mary-Ella!! And sad at the same time. Yes, for sure, stay safe!! #248309Mary-Ella Bowles October 28, 2003
Thanks for your comments everyone, and for your concern. I live in "metro" San Diego, so the danger was much less here than in the outskirts (though on that first day, the heavy black smoke overhead sure made it seem closer than the few miles that separated us from the fire zone). Things look and feel more normal in this area today, but I simply can't comprehend the total magnitude of property destruction in southern California so far. How do you provide for more than a thousand families who have lost virtually everything?? It boggles the mind.... The good news is that many people want to help - the Red Cross had more volunteers yesterday than they could organize. So there will be ongoing opportunities in the weeks to come to help out. #248314Damian P. Gadal October 28, 2003
It's creepy - the sky was blood red this morning - the air is a pasty brown/grey this morning, you can hardly see the sun or breath - and people's eyes are burning....I hope they get these fires out soon! If we get any rain this winter you can bet on massive flooding! #248321
