Beautiful scene and capture, Christopher! My only suggestion is that I would have cropped more of the sky out for a tighter POV. Great shot! #4336186Gail Vitikacs May 27, 2007
Terrific capture Chris....wonderful colors and landscape! #4336435Pat Gamwell May 27, 2007
Superb shot, Chris! The combination of livestock and cathedral is fabulous! #4336850Susan M. Hembree May 27, 2007
Wow! I just love this scene, Chris! It looks very quaint and majestic at the same time. Good capture with the main sheep looking at the camera in the foreground. The lighting and colors are great, too! I would also like to add that I agree some with Mike P. It might do to take out a little bit of the sky; it tends to overpower the composition a bit. But other than that, it's a wonderful piece of work, Chris! #4337215Chris Budny May 28, 2007
Thank you all very much, for commenting! I'll have to keep the crop ideas in mind, for next month! #4339358Dennis Flanagan June 17, 2007
A flock? LOL Very nice shot Chris. #4406475Dennis Flanagan June 17, 2007
I stand corrected. A drove, a flock or a herd... #4406479Chris Budny June 17, 2007
Thanks! But are you picking on my title, Dennis?? ;) I thought it was appropriate---a flock of sheep out in the meadow (there were many more grazing out of frame) to tie in with the concept of the priests at Salisbury, tending to their own flock of worshippers... Clearly, I must have missed the mark with you! ;) #4406482Nikki McDonald June 23, 2007
I agree with Susan about the "quaint and majestic at the same time" aspect of this wonderful capture. I love that kind of juxtaposition and when it works as well as this does (re your own flock/shepherd analogy), it's even better. Good to see this in C&C and I hope to see it again next week. #4428490Chris Budny June 23, 2007
Thank you, Nikki! This has grown to be one of my favorites from my vacation; at first I almost trashed it, thinking no way, to put it on BP, because of the dominant grey sky. But now I really like it.Nikki McDonald June 26, 2007

Thank you folks, so much for your comments! #4449522Elisabeth A. Gay January 02, 2008
This is a beautiful reminder of my teenage years spent in the Salisbury area (Bulford Camp to be exact). Is it the angle of your shot or have they actually straightened the spire? It always used to have a pronounced curve and I understood it was nearly impossible to correct it, but that was many years ago. Love the shot...Chris Budny January 02, 2008
Thank you, Elizabeth! They did mention on the tour, the bend in the tower, from settling... And I can remember seeing it, walking around the cathedral; so it probably is this angle that diminishes the appearance. Have a happy New Year! #5281485Peggy J. Maguire April 24, 2008
