ISO 400, f/5.6, 1/1250 sec, Canon 500mm lens with 1.4X extender, tripod. Taken on my lunch break at a nearby park - the warblers are migrating through our area in numbers right now.

Thanks so much, everyone. It took quite a few shots to get a really nice one. These little guys don't sit still very long, LOL! John #2727512Charlene Taylor May 05, 2006
Fantastic shot John! I know so well what you mean about them not sitting still half the time I feel like throwing the camera at them. LOL #2727645William Moore May 05, 2006

Absolutely fantastic. As an ornithologist, I can appreciate what went into this photo. Great bird, shot, clarity, and comp John. #2734169John Tubbs May 07, 2006
Thanks, Charlene, William, Jo and Brian. I've just really started shooting birds in the last several weeks since getting a big lens. Since then, birds are about 90% of what I've been shooting. It's also re-started my previously very casual birding in a big way. I think I'm hooked...! JohnTerry L. Ellis June 21, 2006
Congratulations, John, on this very beautiful finalist! Such clarity! #2929100Kathleen Flowers June 21, 2006
Hey John,Was wondering what happened to you in our lighting class. You submitted a bunch of top-notch photos and then disappeared.

Thanks, Terry and Kat! Kat, Yes, you are correct, I fell off the face of the earth this term. My propensity for overcommitting myself in terms of interests vs. available time caught up with me this term. Between work, the band I play in, and doing a lot of birding/bird photography, something had to give - and this time it was the class (actually two classes). Sigh...!
