Technical What is the most important technical step for a good print??

I'd say it's the step where you take a good picture. Sorry if that sounds sarcastic, but this is a pretty open-ended question. There are lots of steps involved. Some are more or less important depending on the print size, print media, capture method used (film or digital), resolution, etc. I don't think you can say what is most important without being more specific about a few things. I personally think it's in the creation of the negative (or raw file). without a good image to begin with there's nothing that darkroom skills or photoshop can do to really save it.
