studio lights

hi
i am new to strobe lighting and digital cameras
i am in process of buying strobe lights and want to use them for now with my film camera using either a trigger flash on my camera to set off the slaves in my strobe or a PC cord.
as I have not done any research yet for my next purchase - a digital camera - are there considerations to be taken into account when I want to trigger the strobes with a digital camrea?
i understand they have a "pre - flash" when they take a shot and worry that it will set off my strobes before ready.
boy- any advice in this realm appreciated!

If whichever camera you get doesn't have a PC socket for a cord, you'll want to get an adapter that will do nearly the same thing that will mount to the camera's hot shoe.

You're correct about the preflash. That's why if it was me, I would spend a few bucks and get the cords. I don't think that you have as much control using the strobes as a slave off of a flash on your camera. I guess if you need that flash to light the subject a little more that might work unless of course it was a camera/flash that used the preflash.

My digital SLR has a PC cord sync thing. My film slr doesn't so if I got strobes I would need to get both the PC cord and the hotshoe adapter.
