Photography Question

Jen

mpix.com

I just did some class photos & had them put on a disk. Now I am thinking about ordering all of them (18 packages) through mpix.com, but I was wondering if anyone has ever had a problem ordering so many photos through them, like getting lost or damaged in the mail. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

  Hi Jen,

I have always been frustrated with my printers. For years, I was never satisfied. I read in a thread somewhere on this site that some one recommended mpix.(if you do a search for mpix you'll probably find it.)

I just recieved my first order from them and I am amazed! They are exactly what I wanted. They give you the option to do no color-correcting and what I recieved is exactly the way the appear on my monitor! I am so thrilled! It took about three days. After years of trying to find a good printer I think I finally hit the jackpot! Well worth the extra cost! I plan on using them again in the future.

Nicole, thanks for your response. I think I'm going to try them. I was just nervous about the photos going through the mail, but I've heard nothing but good stuff about them, and they seem to be cheaper than my local printer. By the way, you have a very nice gallery!

Quite a few Betterphoto members rave about mpix.com. My understanding is that they are excellent and very professional. I will be trying them out soon.

The question regarding "losing or damages in mail" will be something beyond yours and their control. I have lost some important mail before and unfortunately it could happen any time... As far as photo related package, I have not lost any so far.
More secure mailing options would be using UPS (a little costly) or USPS priority mail although neither requires your signature at delivery. Sometimes, I wish they did.

You will NOT be disappointed in MPix ... they are superb and their customer service is GREAT!!! Shipping is very fast as well. . . I live in the same state and can order on one day and have the order two days later. .. Fedex shipping is great too . .. their prices can't be beat and I figure that the cost of my ink and paper can't compare when you factor in the time you have to spend babysitting the printer while you do it . .. Again I emphasize. .. you will not be disappointed.!!! As far as lost packages. . . I've never had any in the 6 months or so . .. they have Delivery Confirmation or Fed Ex Trackign on every package!

FedEx would be the best choice when you have a very important photo package.
...I just went to Mpix and ordered my trial prints. I found that choices are between regular USPS mail or FedEx...

Thanks everone for responding. I went ahead and ordered through them today. Another reason I was so nervous about ordering through them is because they are SO much cheaper than my local printer, so I was afraid it would be less quality. From what I hear though, they must be great to deal with!
Thanks again!!! Have a great weekend!

I know what you mean on the price Jen . ..I was kind of thinking the same thing .. . my local place charges $7.00 for an 8x10 adn these are $1.99 . . .but the qualtiy can't be beat and they are printed on the Kodak Endura Professional paper that has the Do Not Copy on the back! . . .

Well, I just have to say that I received all my photo packages from mpix yesterday, and I am SO HAPPY with all of them! I will continue to use mpix in the future. You can't beat the price and yes, the quality is the BEST I've seen yet!!!!

Sorry for my belated updates on this...
As I wrote above, I ordered soome test prints from MPIX and also, I ordered the same photos from Shutterfly.
Prints are really good from either place. But I think I like MPIX a little better for the reasons; paper (Kodak Pro, Endura), the finish (textures), and the prices.

Fed-x has just changed their policies, and they no longer REQUIRE a signature when delivering to a residence. If you want a signature required, you have to request it and the shipper had to deliberately mark it on the waybill (or computerized shipping label). You can require your signature directly, or any adult signature(i.e. your neighbor if you're out), so they can't leave the package on the door with a chance of it getting taken or damaged. USPS may have a delivery confirmation, but it's REALLY slow if you're trying to make a claim. Fed-x is much faster, and will issue a refund usually easier than dealing with the post office. Just something to remember when ordering time sensitive photos, or really important ones.
