understanding photography PLEASE help me. I am a first time photography student attending algonquin college in Ottawa. My dark room teacher is not helpful at all and keeps giving me bad marks on my photographs. I think they are good, but I want to get better. What can you suggest? I know that with a lot of work and a little help I can create photographs that are perfect...I have been trying to get another photographer with the experience that will help me. if you can suggest anything I would greatly appreciate it.

Well, that's a pretty broad request. If you have specific questions or images you'd like to show us maybe we can help. But without something to go on where do we even begin. Post something or if you want you can even email me directly at imagesbyjk@aol.com.

I agree, seeing some of your work would be beneficial. Also keep in mind that the more you shoot the better. I usually only get at most 3 good shots out of a roll that are good for say contests etc. Do you know about composition techniques (rule of thirds, leading lines, frame in a frame)? Using these will help you get better photos. Feel free to email me photos at ephesi512@yahoo.com
