Sensor Cleaning

I'm considering ordering the Copper Hill cleaning kit (cleaning kit, sensor brush, and rocket blower), which I found when searching the forums for info on sensor cleaning. However, the most recent threads I found on sensor cleaning was 2008 - a lot can change in a few years! Is there anything newer and greater on the market, or is Copper Hill still a popular kit for sensor cleaning?

Hi Pat, I might be wrong, but I think Copper Hill sells various brands of products, made by other companies.

If you are not sure about them, why not stick with a well known brand like VisibleDust? They have a fabulous reputation for quality.

Like this kit for $30: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/574321-REG/Visible_Dust_4139290_1_1_6x_Sensor_Brush_Cleaning.html

BUT which camera do you own? That would tell me the size of the sensor and which kit is suitable.

AND this blower bulb $38 http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/609036-REG/Visible_Dust_5068290_Zeeion_Blower_Sensor_Cleaner.html

Thanks so much, Peter! I went ahead and splurged and order the Arctic Butterfly brush. Boy are they proud of that!

I order sensor pads and eclipse fluid, and the Rocket blower. I looked at the blower you referenced above, and almost went with it. I hope I don't regret my less expensive rocket blower.

Hi Pat, You cannot go wrong with the Arctic Butterfly.

Just make sure it is NOT spinning when you use it to clean the sensor.

And if you ever get water or other spots on the sensor, you will need the pads and liquid.

The more expensive blower is designed to prevent sucking up dust and blowing it onto the sensor. It also removes static electricity which can be a huge problem in low humidity.

If the cheap blower does not work well for you, toss it out and get the ZEION instead.

Cheers! Peter www.peterkburian.com

Thanks again, Peter. I put the ZEION blower in my wish list at B&H.
