Uploaded: December 06, 2005

Description

f/5.6, 1/60s, 100 mm (35 mm equiv 159 mm), ISO 400. Detroit Zoo Butterfly Garden, overcast skies. I mirrored the image, changed the hues, added lens flare and a mountainous lighting effect in PSCS. This is for Joy. I will add the original too.

OK, here is the orginal, which I took Saturday at the Zoo purposely as an elation shot for the concepts assignment of my BP course with Bryan Peterson on Seeing Creatively. I was actually attempting to capture the fluttering wings. However, the coloring was so somber looking I wanted to make it brighter. :-)

I hope you all have a JOYOUS and LOVING and HEALTHY Holiday Season! Mary :-)

For me I DO prefer the original Mary. I like the simplicity of it and the wonderful colour of the butterfly. Not quite so enamoured of the background though. I think I would like the worked one more if there weren't quite so many colours. I like the bolder colours of the r/h side best. #2159238

I couldn't control the original background well since it was at the Zoo. I could have probably changed it. This picture was part of a series of experiments with the image and I decided I like it. I will be posting a very different one on Thursday.

I like the original blue of the flowers and the original colors of the butterfly, it just didn't look like joy or elation--that was the direction I was attempting to go with it. Maybe I will also try something totally different. I am glad you are honest in your opinions, I appreciate that. It makes it easier to consider althernatives and new ways of looking at things when you have the honest feelings of people to ounce your questions against. Thanks, Kate. Mary :-) XOX #2159320
