Pick Yourself UP....

Uploaded: July 10, 2012

Description

--------
Shake yourself off...and start all OVER again!
--------
Unfortunately, when this little green heron was on the other side of the pond, stalking a huge bullfrog, I wasn't prepared to capture the frog leaping out of the water, straight into the shocked bird's face. I didn't capture that moment (HrRumph!!)
The heron (I swear it) ran backwards about two yards before he shook himself off, as you see in this photo.
---
And THEN, in a flash...he grabbed another frog (of average size) and I watched his neck (camera in my lap) as the frog went ALL THE WAY down! I thought these little herons stuck to tiny fish for meals!

Such a great capture, Michelle. That is such an amazing pond with all kinds of activity all around it. The best I ever walk away with at the ponds around here are a bad case of chiggers! LOL #10222668

I think you have found a gold mine with this pond and all the opportunities it has to offer when it comes to natures creatures. At least you got a beautiful action shot of this green heron as it shakes itself off from being taken by surprise. This will be a wonderful adventure for you my friend. #10224401

I can relate to his attitude sometimes. Even though you missed that frog gulping (oh, I'd have hated that too), you captured a birdy expression that's thoroughly full of stuff. #10225148

G'day MICHELLE!

I really like this "high alert" pose you have caught and that really intense eye.

On its own the image is relatively unique but with your narrative it make for interesting reading as well as viewing.
