Description

I was having lunch alone in a small but very charming French bistro I had found in downtown Albuquerque. This young man was enjoying his leisurely meal when I arrived. He lingered over desert and coffee and, finally, a book on his Kindle; I kept glancing around the room and wishing I had a picture with him in it. Finally I found the nerve to ask his permission and he obliged. I took a few shots, some with the empty chair across from him and some with it removed. The waitress unexpectedly walked into my last frame for the best capture of all - their poses are completely spontaneous.

I love this shot Nikki. It looks like a modern day Norman Rockwell. This is my favorite of the 3 shots but I do like the one with the waitress as well #1455229

I'd definately be entering the b+w one too, Nikki! This is great as well - I thought it looked like he was napping, as I couldn't see the Kindle! #10081370

Terrific capture, Nikki! Agree it has that Norman Rockwell quality. Love the B&W one, too! A wonderful storytelling image...I have never had the nerve to go up to people and ask their permission to shoot them...my loss. #10089841
