Water Drop [Contest Finalists March 2006]
Uploaded: March 14, 2006 10:05:10
Inspired by the photos I've seen here, I decided to try my hand at capturing a drop of water splashing. Two flashes were used, one on camera and the second to the side.

Allan, how did you manage to do it? Great shot.Allan Farnsworth March 14, 2006
Thanks, Kristy and Tarun. I tried to find the site that I used but couldn't. It is fairly easy, however. Set up a drip (I used fish tubing and controlled the drip with a gang valve). Use a clear bowl and set up your camera. A cable release makes it easier. I set the camera on manual focus and focused on a pencil I held where the drop hit. To get color put a piece of paper or cloth under the bowl. Then start taking pictures. It took a few times to get the timing down, but digital and the instant feedback make this easy. #2531977Kristian L. Stricklin March 15, 2006
