Frost Glow
Uploaded: February 02, 2007 09:14:18
Once in a while old Jack Frost leaves his artwork displayed for extended hours through the day.
We had several days of freezing fog and frost, and I shot these Oregon Grape leaves at that time.
I placed a black backdrop behind the plant for this macro, then used a number of filters
for this final composition. I applied a brown photo filter tint in El 5.0, increased the
red mid-tone, and then posterized the image. I also applied a slight salmon
colored diffuse glow, and a bad dream plug-in filter to the final comp.

Your effects are terrific and greatly enhance the image. Fantastic lighting...I would say backlighting but you said there is a black backdrop behind. The frost really reflects the light, though. Great job on this, Brian!!! #3975462Brian Lobdell February 22, 2007
Thanks so much, Katarina, Corinne, Janine, Mary, Datha, and Melissa!! I'm really happy with the way this turned out, and your comments very motivating! (No backlight, Melissa...but I did adj. the highlights and contrast to enhance the frost edges.) #3975677Amy JACKSON February 22, 2007
