Owl Gossip
Uploaded: July 02, 2003 22:00:09
Two Burrowing Owls having a chat. Actually this image is made from 2 different images of the same Owl, spliced together in Photoshop. 100-400LIS zoom lens set at 400mm for both shots. Exposure was also the same for both at 1/100th @ f5.6. ISO 100

Nice shots Mark. Too bad one shot couldn't be from the front of the owl. Love the clearity so you see so much detail in it. Nice job putting them together. #43653Mark Oxley May 26, 2019
Hi Lori, thanks for your kind comments. I had this shot in mind when taking the 2 images and hoped that the Owl would turn around for a better ballanced photo, but the light changed completely just after these were taken and even though I waited a while it didn't return the way it was in the original shots. I think I like it just as well this way though. #131834Carol Brill May 26, 2019
Very clever shot! Sharp, fine details, and the title gave me a chuckle, too. #131853Wolfgang Dolak May 26, 2019
Oh boy - a hard job to expose correctly (if possible at all!). You did a wonderful job again, Mark. Wouldn't expect any other ;-)Mark Oxley July 09, 2003
Thank you Carol and Birdie, your comments are appreciated as always. Birdie, I took a partial reading from the owls back to get the exposure for this image. I wish Canon would add true spot metering to bodies other than the Pro series range. #138621Carol Brill August 15, 2003
Congratulations, Mark, and best of luck again!!! #166860Wolfgang Dolak August 15, 2003
