This is an opinion warning! LOL Lianne, first you have two wonderful pieces here to photograph and I like the added lightspark lines, however I don't like the flare from the lightspark at the bottom. Suggestion: add the light spark as a layer and erase the the flare circles. More suggestions coming warning! LOL With these two contemporary pieces, I would like to see them on something other than wood as the surface. Perhaps glass, or white foamboard/counter. Maybe even a mirror? Now composition is difficult with an even number, my little ol' suggestion would be to take these two and place the blue vase in front of the red piece somewhat. Go in closer to get that abstract feel you are wanting. These are just opinions/suggestions. : ) I think you are definitely headed in the right direction with your uplight/back lighting. No glares on the glass and it illuminates the colors beautifully. What white balance setting were you on? #13161Lianne E. Cook May 26, 2019
Thanks and cool! keep the suggestions coming! I welcome any input :o)the white balance was either one of two...incandescent or the first setting which adjusts itself, I forget what it is and yes! definitely a mirror, I keep forgetting I have one I can use if I can find it...i'm definitely trying different surfaces, I have to up my inventory first ;o) this was the kitchen counter, I use white foamboard too and i'm going to ask DH for sheet metal from his shop 'cause I like metal too :o)

Yeah, I can imagine the shadow, double the density. Metal? I never thought of that, that would be cool as a surface! My mirror is a little round craft mirror, I need a bigger one! LOL And it's collecting dust along with alot of my still life props! #23783Carol Sherman May 26, 2019
