Shelley, This is quite impressive! It is a challenge to take a pic of oneself, but you got the lighting just right. Really nice!Bernard B. Travers May 26, 2019
Shelley, this photograph is magnificent, not to mention courageous. Photographers don't usually like to show themselves, it seems. This is a real work of art. Thanks for sharing. #23466Robert Pranagal May 26, 2019

Gorgeous! #23551Shelley Sanders May 26, 2019
Thanks everyone very, very much! Most of the photos I have of myself are smiling, even the self portraits like in the bio of my gallery. But I have seen so many "serious" self portraits and wanted to try it. I just feel so goofy trying to look serious! LOL Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. The lighting was a floodlight and natural sunlight through a window. I wanted to create some shadow for effect to aid in the "serious" look attempt. #23565Paul Slate May 26, 2019
This is one of the best self photo's I have ever seen! You make it look so easy. I also love the lighting. you have done a realy fantastic job with this one. i'm at a lose for words. #23594Shelley Sanders May 26, 2019
Thanks so very much Paul! I think the uneven lighting is key in dramatic portraiture. But my biggest help was the healing brush in PS7! LOL Ladies, it takes away years! And Robert P., that's probably why I am BEHIND the camera, too old! LOL #23603Robert Pranagal May 26, 2019
Hey, Shelley!Shelley Sanders May 26, 2019
Win? Why Mr. Pranagal now you have made me blush! But seriously, I just can't imagine a portrait winning against some of the wonderful landscapes, animal shots here because of the difficulty level involved. But I am just thrilled that this went over well with some of my fellow photographers. To me, it has a vintage feel, was going for a Greta Garbo/Myrna Loy look with a touch of today. #23620Grayce Pedulla Dillon May 26, 2019
I agree about the PS tools Shelley, but you are lovely to begin with #23631Shelley Sanders May 26, 2019
Grayce, that is so sweet. But believe me, behind those PS tools is a 29 year old(for a couple of years now)mom of a toddler. Being a quarter Portuguese, the age and lack of sleep show with dark areas underneath the eyes, but what my 3 1/2 year old is pointing out to me right now is my John Travolta chin! LOL Note to self: clone out cleft in chin next time! Thanks so much for the kind words Grayce, I do appreciate them so. #23641Robert Pranagal May 26, 2019
Don't you ever dare to touch that chin!!!:-)

Shelly, what were your thoughts at the time? Your eyes seem to be asking a question.Shelley Sanders May 26, 2019
Hi Gerald. I can't imagine what I was thinking, but probably something like "stop smiling, look serious!" So it was probably snapped right in between the two! LOL Thanks for the compliment. : ) #59619Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
