Angry Tree Swallow [Contest Winner Pool July 2005 ]
Uploaded: July 25, 2005 09:11:34
A Western Scrub Jay is attacked by a Tree Swallow that was nesting near by. This was shot at 1120mm in manual focus and happend so quick that I just had time to get the jay in focus. The swallow knocked the jay off the post and they both flew away in different directions.

Wow, this is an incredible shot. I love the DOF, makes the incoming look more menacing. Really fabulous. #283671Jessica L. Richard July 25, 2005

So much for "feathered friends"! But it sure made for a wonderful photo Ron!! And the light is just so beautiful! :0) #1637257Ron Goldman July 25, 2005
Thank you everyone! This was one of those shots that I really wish I had the chance to do over. Unfortunately, the birds didn't want to try a second take. There was just enough time to get my camera swung around on the tripod and shoot so I didn't get the framing I would have liked. It was still fun to see though! #1637974Bryan Yates July 25, 2005

Congratulations Ron, very excellent capture!!!! I tried about 100 shots a few weeks ago, in an attempt to catch a swallow as they were scooping insects out of the air. NO success. #1747963Ron Goldman August 22, 2005
Thank you Duane. Those swallows are fast! I hope you get the chance to catch one with an insect in it's beak. That would be a great shot! #1750443Leanne M.E. Boyd August 22, 2005
