Sunset at Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada [Contest Finalists August 2002]
Uploaded: August 29, 2002 20:03:02
This picture does not do justice to the sunset. The sky was on fire on this particular night. Photo was taken with a Canon D30 in program mode with a 28-90mm lens.

Thank you for your comment Kathleen. If you've never been to Peggy's Cove, it's a photographers paradise. I was told that the sky looks like this every evening. I will definitely be making a return trip. #12820Keith Anderson August 29, 2002
This looks like a postcard. Great pic. #12831Kimberley Matheson August 29, 2002
Thanks Keith. You just gave me a great idea for this picture! I'm new to photography, so I have trouble accepting compliments but appreciate them greatly. I would definitely love to do this full time. #12834Kimberley Matheson August 29, 2002
Hello Craig. Thanks for your comments as well. I can't get over the positive response to this photo. It was certainly one of those moments when you just know you have to take a picture. I was eating supper in the restaurant when I turned to see the sunset. Needless to say, I dropped my fork and was out the door with my camera! #12838Carolyn M. Fletcher August 30, 2002
Really beautiful! #12866Kimberley Matheson August 30, 2002
Thanks Carolyn. It certainly was beautiful. I see you like to photograph sunsets as well. I just took a tour through your site...very impressive! #12881Carolyn M. Fletcher August 30, 2002
Thanks, glad you liked it. I'm just a lucky person to live here where all the weather happens. We get a lot of colors and stuff..good thing, or I don't know what I'd do.. #12896Kathleen Clemons September 08, 2002
Congratulations on making finalist with this gorgeous photograph! #13860Carolyn M. Fletcher September 08, 2002

Stunning!!Kimberley Matheson September 10, 2002
Kathleen, Carolyn and Adam - Thank you so much for your comments. Being new to photography and making it to the finals has given me a real boost.Adam: I would liked to have had the lighthouse and foreground a bit more visible, but am not familiar with using Photoshop. I just loaded it on my computer last night and will try different techniques on this photo to see what it's capable of. I tried lightening the photo, but it really took away from the intensity of the sky. #14304

You're new to this... well "HOT DANG" then even more praise for you! I myself am fairly new to this and I know how I felt when one of my images came runner up. There are many great people on this site full of knowledge and help and to be recognised in this group was a better feeling than entering a local comp. Can't wait to see more of your work.Kimberley Matheson February 04, 2004
