Please Don't Evict the Horses

Horses at Mission Bell Farms in Sonoma. The 2.7 acre farm, one block from the Sonoma plaza, has been on the market for a few years now. It is the last undivided parcel from General Vallejo's original map of the city of Sonoma. In addition to its well known Clydesdale pasture, the Farm has two barns and a historic 1880's farmhouse. A local trust tried to raise enough money to buy and maintain the property as a working farm, but was only able to raise about half of the offering price of 7.6 million. If purchased by a private buyer, the historic property would most likely be developed into a large number of densely packed residential dwellings.

Wonderful capture Martha!, Poor horses! #11816445Oscar J. Pung July 08, 2020
Great shot Martha and poignant message. It would be a shame to see this turned into MacMansions. Any chance the State would step in? #11816550Martha R. Mazon July 08, 2020
Thanks for the comments, folks! The state won't help...but the city did chip in a substantial amount. Unfortunately it wasn't enough. Still hoping a savior will pop up! It's such a special property and adds to the charm of the town. #11816589Terry Cervi July 08, 2020
I sure hope the farm can be saved, what a shame it would be to lose it. Poor horses! A fine shot, Martha! #11816745Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
