Burnham and Root's iconic Rookery Building features an oriel staircase - defined as a staircase that projects from the wall, connecting floors, but does not reach to the ground floor. The straight lines of each step's riser contrast with the elegant curved form, and the white undersides of each step stand out from the surrounding dark metalwork.

Simply Awesome, love the inward staircase shape! #11736116Chris Budny November 09, 2018
Thanks guys! I like that this view is looking up the staircase -- though at a glance, it could appear as if you were looking down instead. #11736117Amanda D. Austwick November 13, 2018
Great POV, and I would never think I was looking up instead of down the staircase. #11736751Chris Budny November 13, 2018
Thanks - it is almost an illusion, the way the underside looks so much like actual steps you'd walk on! #11736760Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
