Close-up on the lockbox of a fantastic wrought iron gate by blacksmith Tom Bredlow, circa 1980, at the cathedral. One "beastie" grips the ring handle in its teeth, while another beastie emerges from the stone wall at the right, to bite down on the side panel (offering additional structural support to the side, next to the strike plate.) Wow. What an amazing gate! Love the detail and all of that intricate design. Iron work like this has always impressed me, and your capture of it is fabulous! #1697797Chris Budny October 19, 2017
Thanks Michele! It really is a knockout gate... All of Tom's work, and really all of the cathedral's ironwork from other smiths is just terrific, impressive, beautiful art. Ya gotta get out to DC sometime...! #11650345Michele Peterson November 01, 2017
I am sure I would love it! There is a very small chance my son will be moving to Maryland this summer for a year or two, which would give us a reason to head east (to the "other" Washington)! #11654297Chris Budny November 01, 2017
