The moon... and a tree [Darkroom Composites Photo Processing ]
Uploaded: December 07, 2001 08:48:26
Early in the morning, when the sky was still dark and the moon was full - I awoke and snapped this shot. Color transformed to B&W to emphasize the graphic contrast between the circular, light shape in the sky and the dark, edged shape on the ground.

You were inspired to transform this photo in B&W. But I think that is too much empty space in the middle of the frame..., isn't it ? And it's all so symetric... #2283Chuck December 07, 2001
Alan, Marcia makes a good point. BUT I'd like to offer my point of view...GREAT SHOT ! ! ! I love it.Chuck #3598

I actually like this photo! I think that there are areas that could be improved upon. But, I like the thought behind the image: the geometry in it.I might suggest cropping a little of the empty space out of the centre and re-stiching it together, but I don't think that it is entirely necessary. Perhaps, if the tree at the bottom was slightly larger, it might be a stronger shot.
Anyway, I do like it.

I'm happy for all the comments. Thanks. My own thougts are, that there might be a little too much space in the middle - never the less I feel that it adds som dynamic to the picture. If the two elements were closer to each other, it sure would add some harmony, but the contrast between the firm soil and the endles universe would decrease. Concerning the symmetry: One of my friends actually complained that it was not 100 % symmetric...! And the moon actally is a little to the left of the tree. But I have now made another square 'version' with a lowered moon. #3697Chuck December 10, 2001
Alan, With the new version I feel you took an extraordinary picture and made it ordinary. I like them both, but I prefer the original because I feel you took it a step beyond. I would really like to know what you were thinking when you first saw the scene.Chuck #3723
