Eta Aquarid Meteor [Contest Finalists May 2013]
Uploaded: May 09, 2013 17:56:05
I captured this image in my front yard on Monday morning, May 6th, at the tail end of the peak of the annual Eta Aquarid meteor shower. This meteor shower occurs over a couple weeks, with the peak occurring over a couple days at the beginning of May (the peak this year was May 5th). The Eta Aquarid appear to originate from the constellation Aquarius, and are the result of Earth passing through the debris from Halley's Comet.

Great image Paul. Wish I lived far away from the city lights so I could take advantage of meteor showers #10689415David Resnikoff May 11, 2013

Howard, in one word, perfectly describes this amazing capture - Pure. Beautiful work, Paul, and a very interesting story. #10689790Paul R. Nelson May 11, 2013
Thank you Howard, Art, David and Susan. Sometimes things just work out right, and I think this is one of those times. Thank you for all your kind comments; they are very encouraging. Art, there are times when I would gladly change places with you; plowing snow on 1/2 mile of driveway gets old by the end of Winter. #10690408Rita K. Connell May 13, 2013

Thank you, Rita. I'm sorry I missed your comment earlier; my wife had just come home for a visit for the first time in almost 3 months, so I was a little distracted at that time. Yes, this is one image.Thank you, Pamela. #10713524
