Finalist
Found this in Santa Fe in March, 2011 -- these objects had obviously been on this small, deeply shaded patio area a very long time. I had to lean over a barrier and shoot around a corner to get it. The light/shadow contrast was extreme so I created five exposures of the image digitally and combined them in Photomatix to see if I could salvage the shot. I like the way this experiment turned out -- much better than I dared hope.

Whew, lots of work, but I know why you did it, because the elements are great. I really like this so much and am trying to define for myself just why. The angled rather than straightened lines (chair, window, etc.)--yes, nice. The angle of view making the rear of the bike larger as the foreground. Well, lots of stuff. Very nice, Nikki. #9801793MELODIE C. ROBERTS November 13, 2011
