They dug through this once beautiful hill for a new road.
I don't know what these are called but there were about 5 of them, plus some bulldozers.
I was up on the hill for this shot.
I was very nervous being up there taking these photos
as I was fairly close to the edge and scared to death of heights.
I hated looking down LOL and yes I was shaking!
There was so much dust up there, I had to actually try and keep my camera covered,
and keep dusting it off.
Comment's welcome and have a GREAT DAY!!!

Interesting composition Nancy, love the color saturation on this one. Reminds me of our county road 3050 here that's under construction, a 7 mile stretch into town. Two more years of dirt & dust :(Nancy (Peaches) Harker February 05, 2008
Thanks so very much Howard, I didn't raise the saturation, this whole series is out of the camera!Lynn Haack February 05, 2008
Peaches...excellent color and comp! These big boys sure do a lot of work. It's interesting to document this road development. And at the same time, it's bittersweet to see the natural beauty of our county-side carved away in the name of progress (and safety.)Nancy (Peaches) Harker February 05, 2008
Hey Lynn, thanks so very much, so glad to see you up and about!!!Carol Teal February 07, 2008
Great shot Peaches. I like all the layers of the hill, and the three machines working so hard. Remarkable shooting considering your fear of heights. You wouldn't want to do what I did several times then...parasail at about 400 feet being towed behind a little boat. And they would actually slow down so you would begin to drop until your feet touched the water, then they would speed back up and take you back up in the air. It was fun, but the first time, I was up there for over 30 min because they couldn't get me down! (long story there) #5457922Peggy J. Maguire February 07, 2008
Excellent colors Nancy, great clarity! #5458075Nancy (Peaches) Harker February 07, 2008

Peaches, you've got a fantastic eye--to see and compose this as an EoD image. Beautifully done and congrats on the EFP! Oh wow--I looked back and saw my previous comment suggesting entering this in EoD if it didn't go further in CA! I think you're on to something here, Peaches--fingers crossed for you! :D #6082937Aleksandra Miesak June 22, 2008
Great shot!I don't understand why everyone is so upset about the cutting of the hill. If it wasn't for the road cuts, us geologists would have never seen these amazing details of our planet and this picture might not have been as powerful visually. Just think of it as the work that the Colorado River did to the Grand Canyon... now is that really a bad thing...
Just thought I throw in my 2 cents, have a great day everyone! #6093957
