Nice, dramatic shot Sharon. I haven't been to Chepstow for since I was a kid, I think I will have to make the effort and get there.Good work Sharon. #312571

Very dramatic shot, Sharon! Nice work. #312698Darren K. Fisher December 30, 2003
WOW this is great. I think for me it is all about the perspective. #312809Sharon E. Lowe December 31, 2003
Kasia, Ed, Colette, and Paula - thanks so much for your nice comments!Darren - it is a great castle to visit so you should go back! We were visiting family in Wales over Christmas so not too much time for sightseeing but we managed to get to the castle, At Bristol (great museum), and Tintern Abbey, one of my favorite places to visit around that area.
Darren - I love my new 14mm lens which allowed me to get this shot - I have a 20mm that I always love to use on the film camera but I really missed the wide angle on the digital with the cropping factor. Now, I can get the same effect on my digital! I liked the perspective too but think it really worked because I had the light behind me and the clouds behind the castle. There was a rainbow but it was well to the right of the castle and by the time we got to a point where I could have included it, it was gone! #312952

Brilliant powerful shot! Great light! Love that lens of yours :) #312968Sharon E. Lowe December 31, 2003
Cliff - thanks! I've heard the lens is a bit soft around the edges if you use it on a film camera or full frame digital but I thought it performed brilliantly on my D60! #312989Donna R. Moratelli December 31, 2003
Wow, excellent image Sharon! The light is beautiful! Your going to really love that lens. #312999Sharon E. Lowe December 31, 2003
Donna - thanks! I used it a lot on the trip so that I could relearn how to use a really wide angle lens again - I'm always amazed at how close I can get with the superwides! I just wish I had found some cooperative sheep or cows to do some close-ups but the sheep on my sister-in-law's farm wouldn't let me close enough and I never managed to walk to the farm with the cows (too much rain!). #313014Donna R. Moratelli December 31, 2003
Sharon, It did perform brilliantly with the D60 and the image is tack sharp. You'll get used to lens very quickly because it's so much fun to use..
You have the same philosophy as me and in time you'll find yourself not letting go of that wide angle for a while and start finding great subjects to shoot everywhere, because wide angles are a super creative instrument for super creative individuals like us.
I just started using mine at dusk and it has been a lot of fun because now I can see things on the screen that I couldn't see real well for real. YOu should try using it at night because that's another subject that you are real good at shooting!!
Have fun with it. I'm glad that you finally got it. Have a safe, happy and HEALTHY NEW YEAR! #313022

Congratulations Sharon I too missed it before, but it's a great wideangle image! It made me smile when you mentioned the rain, because it ALWAYS seems to rain in Wales whenever we've been there.........Rita #335435Sharon E. Lowe January 16, 2004
Rita - thanks! We were in the UK for 8 days and it was sunny just one day! We've been over in the summer and had much better luck but Wales reminds me of the tropics in that it seems to rain every day, even if just for a short time! #335516Randy Walton January 18, 2004
