Thanks, Jeff, Michelle, and Tammy! Much appreciated #9611039Michelle Alton August 17, 2011
I think some clouds rolled in since I last viewed this...I like it, but I LOVED it before...there was a sort of "mother-of-pearl" iridescence to the sky that made the capture seem uniquely beautiful to me. Still a favorite though. #9611074Thomas E. Hinds August 17, 2011
Thanks so much, Michelle! Actually, the sky is the same (and it was incredible to behold that whole evening). What I saw to re-arrange, was a remnant of one pole that I had tried to completely erase! I honestly didn't change the sky! LOL! But I might as there are variations on this image that might get posted. I shot about five or six different silos with an amazing sky behind! #9611110Karen Slagle August 20, 2011
Love this grain elevator with storm clouds Thomas. Where was this taken, it looks familiar to me. #9616241Thomas E. Hinds August 20, 2011
Thanks, Karen! This silo was off of I-40 maybe in Wildorado, or Vega. I took a lot of images of elevators on the way into Amarillo as the sky was so great for it. I know it was for sure west of Bushland, going by the sequence of images. Thanks again! #9617308Deborah Lewinson August 21, 2011
Classic, powerful, and gorgeous image, Tom, perfectly composed with the clouds!Debby #9617896

This silo looks mighty and commanding and it also looks a little haunted to me, Tom. 8)I really like the balance this image has. Even though most of the 'heavy' objects and (the cloud mass) are on the right it works perfectly because of the big break of blue on the left!!! Terrific job and congratulation on your finalist!!! :)

Thanks so much, Laura! I didn't see any ghosts there while composing this image. But it was late afternoon and not midnight. I did see several UFOs hovering and streaking, however! I wasn't able to capture them for they caught me off guard and then rocketed away. Saw a little alien waving and laughing as they shot toward outer space. True story!Tom #10163915

A beauty!....I was hoping this was in the Palouse of Washington state....don't think I'll be back in Amarillo too soon....heading up to Washington in August. #10199142Thomas E. Hinds June 25, 2012
Thank you, Patricia! Palouse is a place I'd love to go as well! Hope it is green and beautiful while you are there (and after, too, lol)! Well I caught an unbelievable sky on the way into Amarillo for business that late afternoon. I actually called my boss and asked if it was okay if I was a bit late for dinner! He obliged! #10200155Laura E. Swan June 25, 2012
Ha! Love your true stories! I see the Judges love your work as well. WAIT until they hear about the ALIENS! WOW!!! HeeHee!!! :D
So happy for you Tom! :) #10200237

Thanks, Laura! You are so kind to double visit! Well now, parts of your family, and mine, evidently have been abducted by those saucer folk and except for the television show (down here in the states) Fallen Sky(s), those little aliens are not getting much publicity! So I don't think it will move the judges too much one way or another! LOL!! Hope you are well! I plan to visit your gallery momentarily because it has been too long! #10200251Laura E. Swan June 25, 2012
Truth be known I stay connected to ALL images that I think might get a finalist. I stayed connected to this one a while back! :) !!! August? :DSo happy for you, and I hope the judges feel this is OUT OF THIS WORLD to go GOLD. Then they will be forced to admit that there IS an OUT OF THIS WORLD. (Meaning Aliens of course! HA!) #10200260
