Wonderful trip. The amount of water in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and Yosemite is very impressive and is the most I have ever seen.I will attempt to catch up in the next day or so. I will say my photo skills are a bit rusty so not to many great shots from the trip though I have a few that look OK. This is one of the best in my opinion, not because of my great photo ability but simply because of natures beauty partially captured here. #1387911

WOnderful photo...I love the reflection and the fact that you can see the rocks in the foreground...very nice, Michael!Lydia #9483984

Stunning Mike! That water is so clear. I would love to sit by this lake all afternoon. :) #9484028Anthony L. Mancuso June 25, 2011
This is awesome Mike, don't think I would change a thing. You have to take some of the credit here. Yes it is nature that created the beautiful scenery, but the photographer has to capture it in a way to exemplify that beauty, and you did a great job of that with this one. #9484503Debbie E. Payne June 25, 2011
I agree with Tony, Michael. You certainly can take credit for this beautifully done image. I love how the rocks angle at the front for a more dynamic photo than simply having them horizontally lead in to the mountains. Beautiful. Really.....you got this from the road?? #9484646Joan E. Hoffman June 25, 2011
I completely appreciate your comment about "rusty skills" having been out only once with my camera since February or March.... however, if MY rusty was as good as YOUR rusty, I would be over the moon with delight!!!Wonderful shot of a beautiful spot! #9484671

Beautiful shot! I love the foreground rocks, and how the lines all converge. There's great movement in the shot. Your pov added to the natural beauty! #9484955Rita K. Connell June 25, 2011
Wow this is a picture you just want to keep looking at....there is so much to take in. very nicely capture with your rusty skill I am so glad you are out and .....taking picures .... and being with your sweetheart can't get better than that. awesome color boy I bet the water is cold cold cold.....! #9485043Michael Kelly June 25, 2011
Thank you Lidia. I appreciate your comment and I got to take a look at your web site which was a real treat. You have some great images. Thanks Teresa the weather was perfect and you with great temperature and calm. A very nice day to sit by this lake.
Thanks Tony always means a lot. Just wish I could have captured more with this quality.
Debbie this is literally a few steps from the road. Parked on a little pull out area and crossed the road and a few steps off the edge on the other side. Not the standard scene from Yosemite, but I liked it for the beauty even more than the fails and Half Dome. I must say the falls are spectacular in person though.
Thanks Joan. LOL This shot came out great but the rusty part was getting the camera on wrong settings and forgetting little things that are normally automatic for me. This was the second day with the camera and I was a bit better, but still not producing the percentage of good shots that I am used to. By good I mean in focus with a correct exposure not necessarily a fine photo.
Thanks so much Leslie - I still give mother nature a lot of credit for this one, but I sure appreciate your kind words.
Thanks Rita I always love those wows. It was a great day and Sherry and I were both impressed by the power of the water moving down the mountains. That was really impossible to capture in a still, but this calm lake was easy. This is all snow melt and there was still a lot of snow and some ice in places so while I did not touch the water I bet it is barely above freezing so your cold assessment is right on. #9485293

Yeah, I'm with Teresa on this one, I could sit by this lake for a good long while. This is pretty spectacular! You may have been a bit rusty, but it's pretty obvious that your skill and talent came through on this one.

Better late than never, I can second every comment made here. It's the kind of image you don't want to take your eyes from. So glad you had a good time. #9485748Stephen Shoff June 26, 2011
Looks like you had a great day for your drive across the mountains. Very nice capture. #9487857Beth Spencer June 26, 2011
Absolutely Beautiful!! I wouldn't change a thing. I too would love to sit at this spot and just take in the beauty. Your photograph captures it Perfectly!! I see no rustiness in your skills and this photo!! #9488031Michael Kelly June 26, 2011
Thank you Jeff. You are very kind. You know what they say about the blind squirrel. Thanks Dale. Just wish I had taken the video camera as the power and volume of so much water is very hard to capture in a still. The sounds were incredible too.
Thank you so much Beth. I should post some of the ones that really do show how rusty I was. I am used to shooting almost every day though much of the time I don't get anything worth posting. I shot almost nothing for 6 months and believe me I feel fortunate to have captured a shot as well as this one turned out. #9488286

Oh my, Michael, this is spectacular!!!Jodi M. Walsh June 30, 2011
oh my goodness! this is gorgeous! I would love to see this in person some day.My dad and stepmom went to an art workshop in Montana and stopped to visit all the parks on the way (glacier, yosemite) I think they ended up with 75 rolls of slide film. I can only imagine what they would have done with digital. #9497035
Michael Kelly June 30, 2011
Thanks Carla. Hard to go wrong with a scene like this.Thank you Jodi. As close as Yosemite is to us, this was our first time there. Well worth the trip. I have not been to glacier either and want to give that a try. I have been to Yellowstone several times but Sherry has never been so that is on the list also.
Wow 75 rolls is a lot! I only shot 15 rolls in Africa over two weeks. Digital does allow me to shoot more now though as you shoot for free once you have the equipment. #9497817
