Amazing Bev!!Looks fantastic! #9209419Laura E. Swan February 03, 2011
I am taken aback by the beauty here and the command of scale, Beverly! The people look so small from your POV! This was so very beautifully exicuted. I bet you were in awe standing there?I was on a ship cruise to Alaska in 1977 and toured Glacier Bay as part of the adventure. There is something VERY special about the great white north!
Glad I stopped in and witnessed this image!

P.S. I have also heard that this year is the last year they will EVER do ship cruises into the antarctic. You were fortunate to see this! :) #9212497Beverley Scott February 05, 2011
Thanks Brett and Laura for your comments. Laura, the rules are going to change and it looks as though large ships won't be able to go unless they convert to light marine fuel (the ship I was on will convert) and the smaller expedition ships will also continue to visit. This image has virtually no editing including cropping done to it. It is such a pristine environment with no pollution so that the colours are so strong! #9213905Carolyn J. Connolly February 05, 2011
Wow, Bev - what a breathtakingly gorgeous view down the Lemaire Channel!! I love your pov here...and the reflection and your composition both are outstanding, too!! :o)How large was the ship you sailed on, and where did you board it? Also, how far did the ship venture into Antarctica, and how long did your expedition last?
You obviously had stunning weather the day you took this image - was it like that most of the time? Phil and I would love to do a cruise like that...but I guess it's a pretty xxx-y(?) one!! ;o/ We're planning on cruising down around New Zealand in early December!! ;o) #9214433

Congratulations on your win! Great idea with adding people to the picture - they show the scale. I like their red jackets - nice contrast with blue and white. #9378955Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
