I'm putting the blossoms behind me for a while and wanted to enter just one or two more. This is one of my favorites and the other two are the same image but with a bit of a tonal difference between them. Which one should I work with more? #1273721Michael Kelly May 30, 2010
I like the first - top - post the best. It has some wonderful lighting and the light coming between the branches adds to the feel of the shot. Color is great and the DOF with a partially blurred and darker set of blossoms in the BG is right on. I think opening the shadows a bit would help the shot, but other than that it looks good as presented. #8653341Debbie E. Payne May 30, 2010
What I like about the first posted image is the way the light is coming through almost a little "cave" made by the branch at the top left-hand corner. Here is revised version with the shadows opened up a bit. #8653421Teresa H. Hunt May 30, 2010
The first post is my favorite as well. I really love your POV. And the light in the background is wonderful. I think opening the shadows was what it needed. :) #8653507Jeff E Jensen May 30, 2010
Yup, your change worked well. Very nice! #8653697Stephen Shoff May 30, 2010
I liked the first because the colors were richer. Did you open the shadows on the entire picture or just the branch? I think the petals lost just a little contrast. #8653888Anthony L. Mancuso May 30, 2010
I actually like the horizontal crop dark version best, I think the comp is stronger than the original post but I also think opening the shadows of the original one was an improvement. #8654013Dale Hardin May 30, 2010
Blossoms are so hard to do correctly but you've managed a beautiful rendition.I like the first post (and it's correction) the best. However, the "cave" that you like in the image is a distraction to me. I think it would look better with an 8x10 crop starting in the lower right corner with the top ending just at the bottom of the horizontal Branch that is at the top above the "cave".

I really like the first posted with the corrections but I can see what Stephen is saying about the contrast. I like the little cave it gives you the feeling of early morning light that is just getting through. this is a very nice capture of these blooms. they may be hard to get but I will never stop trying.... #8654960Debbie E. Rita - They were especially difficut to get this year - as well as the lilacs - because it has been so windy here. I had a LOT of images that just had to be pitched because of the movement. At least I have a few that worked. #8662623Jeff E Jensen January 18, 2011

Thank you all! Blossom time is right up there with fall for me. One can see me stopping my car alongside the road taking pictures of particularly beautiful cherry and crabapple trees in blossom. #9180198Michael Kelly January 20, 2011
Congratulations Debbie! I liked this when I first saw it and am very glad it got this recognition. #9181179Nancyj E. Hovey January 20, 2011
