This is simply stunning, Heather! It could be in an Audubon Guide, it is so perfect! AGain, I've never seen this Jay species but I know it must be difficult to capture. The clarity and detail on the bird is amazing and I love that his mouth is slightly open! CONGRATULATIONS on another outstanding Finalist, and good luck in the next round! #9042504Heather Pickard November 16, 2010
Your comments ladies are very much appreciated. Thank-you!Rona, you make me smile.
This jay is a northern species so you will have to travel north to see it. They are a species that gets accustomed to people quickly and will sometimes come to the hand for food.
The reason this bird's mouth is slightly open is because its filled with the peanuts he just got from my husband. #9042649

Gorgeous Image Heather! Congratulations! I don't think that I have ever seen one of these. #9043400Heather Pickard November 17, 2010
Thanks Amanda. These Jays live in boreal forests, the Rocky Mountains and along the west coast. My field guide says they are common camp and cabin visitors in these areas. #9044638Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
