Closed for business - indefinitely
Uploaded: September 11, 2010 00:05:32
This portrait studio has been in business since 1933. It is in a block of shops which will all have to be demolished. My kids had their portraits taken there a couple of years ago. There must be a lot of customers who will now never ever get their photos.

Your photojournalism chronicling this tragedy has been so well done, Ann. #8893855Carolyn J. Connolly September 11, 2010
Ann, it really IS sad to think of just HOW MANY businesses like this one will be 'closed for business - (hopefully not!) indefinitely'!! :o(Also, hopefully there will be SOME way that the studio can retrieve photographs that had already been taken...
Anyway, this is superb photojournalism here, my friend... Keep the images coming - they give us just an inkling of what the Christchurch and Canterbury aress are faced with now for a while...
It reminds me a bit of what Newcastle looked like after our M 5.6 earthquake on the 28th of December 1989, in which 13 people lost their lives...
Thankfully, only one aftershock of M 2.1 was registered the following day...

Nice capture, Ann. Very sad though. Hopefully the places will open again. #8894248Phillip R. Connolly September 11, 2010
An excellent capture depicting the life changing event of last weekend, Ann. These things are devastating and pose so many problems in rebuilding, but a few years down the track there will be little evidence of it happening. However, your city will take on a slightly different persona compared to the old Christchurch! I'm so glad our youngest son had the opportunity to visit and stay in your city and witness its charm a few years ago. I think Carolyn is disapointed she didn't get to see Christchurch as it was, and she is the born NZ'er!! Very well captured and presented.Phil #8894685

Truly enjoying your gallery Ann. This is one of my favorites not only because of it's photo journalistic message, but also because of it's compositional aspects and technical attributes. It's a very good photo. #9440512Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
