Great White Egret in lilly pond [Contest Finalists August 2004]
Uploaded: August 27, 2004 07:13:12
by Dick FortuneWhile driving from one customer's site to another I noticed this egret in a pond off the ramp of the expressway and it was just too inviting not to pullover and take its picture. It was noon and I had ISO at 100, f5.6, sp 1/1250, no tripod, no filters. Minor adjustments to exposure and cropping done in Photoshop Elements.

Beautiful, Dick! I like the reflections and the difference between the foreground and background vegetation! Good eye! #162791Sara And Dick August 27, 2004
Thank you Deb! Sara and I went into your web gallery and just loved it. By the way Sara didn't ropped in Photoshop Element, she cropped... Sometimes the fingers are faster than the brain! :o) But, her fingers never left her hands...ha ha! By the way the picture of your husband in awe looks like a painting - it is art and not photography. This is the same feeling we try to get with our work. I try to always eliminate the 99% of our work and only submit what I consider the primo, which is phenominally clear and crisp. Sara says I am an "alpha" but "... only the best goes into Starkist tuna." Setting high standards can only result in fine quality product. Sorry for being a perfectionist. Love your work!Cathy Barrows September 14, 2004

Thank you Cathy, Su and Debra!!! Your kind words are well appreciated and keep us motivated! We decided to take a shooting holiday today and went to Loxahatchee Nature Preserve - got some very nice egre, heron and butterfly shots. We'll be putting them in our gallery this week ( throughthelensgallery.com ). Hope you enjoy them. South Florida is such a haven of opportunity for wading birds and great pixs. Thanks again! We will be checking in on your sights as work permits! Isn't this forum wonderful! Getting to share your pictures with other photographers and having them share theirs! We have learned so much from just reading comments and looking at other photographer's perspectives! #833839Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
