~ ROOM WITH A VIEW ~ [Photography Contest Man Made Architecture Transportation Industry Pictures]
Uploaded: August 06, 2010 07:42:28
This room does in fact have a view...I have no idea what this room was used for, but judging from the bars on the windows....You Guess. The view would be the center of the fort complex. I would assume if there were windows on the otherside, they would overlook the corrals. Once again...the adobe architecture is very intriguing to me. It's my understanding that during the war with Mexico in 1846, the fort became a staging area for Colonel Stephen Watts Kearny's "Army of the West". Disasters and disease caused the fort's abandonment in 1849. Archeological excavations and original sketches, paintings and diaries were used in the fort's reconstruction in 1976. HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
