August 2010 Finalist
Dedicated to Ms "STOMP" ROFLMAO
Crab Spider eating a Pink Edged Sulpher Butterfly
This spider will sit for up to 2 weeks in the same spot,
wait for it's prey, then grab it with his front legs, paralize it, then suck the juices out of it
They also will turn colors for camoflauge, so may turn white, pink, green, brown depending what it is sitting on.
It said they could live over 100 yrs
Most crab spiders are less than 1 cm (0.4 in),
Worldwide there are about 2000 known species of crab spiders
I was kinda scared, being is I used my 18-55 usm IS with +10 close up macro filter, praying it didnt jump on me
Hope you enjoy!!!
Have a SUPER NIGHT!

See Tammy, you've gained yourself a reputation! Ha! Ha! I have a question for you Peaches ... How did you know what kind of butterfly the spider was eating when all that was left was its leg? ... or is it an antenna? :) #8866011Tammy Espino August 27, 2010

I'd like to have a moment of silence for the poor little butterfly that got the juice sucked right out of him!
(Silence).....
I bet you'd be GREAT at telling stories around the campfire Peaches. (Big smile here!)
